Saving with Coupons
Posted on November 06 2007
The key is to combine coupons with sales.
Rather than buying things just when you need them, look for the intersection of a sale price and an available coupon and stock up on the item. This is known as “stockpiling” and works well for non-perishable items that are used every day: toothpaste, toilet paper, etc.
Then when you run out, you’ll have a bargain supply to use.
When using coupons, buying small sizes may be better than buying larger sizes. The coupon applied to a small item on sale may bring the price down to zero!
Try to collect multiple coupons. That way you can magnify a good deal by buying a larger quantity of items at rock-bottom prices.
The coupons that print on the back of your shopping receipt are called catalinas. They are also good to match with sale items.

Shopping Tip
Walmart allows you to do three returns in six months without a receipt. If you want to return Christmas gifts and don’t have gift receipts, bring all the returns in on one visit, and it will only count as one return.
