Finding Peace in Unstable Times

Posted on January 21 2009

With the recent collapse of the housing market and the financial stability of the United States in limbo people are once again brought to the place of insecurity. If things continue the way they have been in recent week’s people’s lives will be in ruin, wealth lost over night, houses, savings and retirement gone. For many this means they must start over and for others they will loose hope. The potential for chaos is great while the opportunity for peace still exists for those that desire. God is not the author of confusion. You may find yourself in this financial mess and fear there is no hope for tomorrow. I am here to tell you that there is hope for tomorrow. God never wanted us to find our true security and hope in owning houses, big retirement accounts, direct deposit, or even human leadership. He wants us to look to him for everything and acknowledge his blessings. Jesus says in Matthew 11:28-30 28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” God has given us His Son as a resting place. In this time of uncertainty I would encourage you to look to God for your security. He will bring you rest. For most that are reading this you have been struggling with your finances for a long time and this is the burden you’ve been carry. You may be in the midst of a tremendous relationship battle or at a place where you lost a job. God desires more of you. God does not see value in your bank account. He wants a relationship. No matter what happens in the weeks to come if you are in a place of uncertainty in your heart God can calm those rushing waters. God is faithful. Find your peace and stability in Christ Jesus. -FLCS Staff
