Education and Tools
CreditWise is a community outreach educational program with the objective of teaching the sensible use of credit.
Through CreditWise, FLCS goes out into the community to reach people where they are: in the workplace, at school, in a church youth group, a service group or club, women’s groups, or even to those behind bars or on probation.
Topics covered include:
Homebuying
FLCS is an authorized Housing Counseling Agency. We present information on different programs in the community that assists low to moderate income families with down payment and closing cost assistance to purchase a home.
Budgeting
Discuss budgeting tips and trends that will allow your dollar to stretch a little further. Introduce new ideas where you may be able to save some needed extra dollars.
Use of Credit
We discuss different types of credit. We will inform you of positive ways to borrow and also make you aware of borrowing trends to stay away from.
Mechanics of Credit
Why is credit important? Why do we need credit? How does credit effect me? These questions and many more will be answered.
Credit Scoring
How does the current credit scoring system work? What is my credit score? What goes into my credit score? Ways you can improve your score. Ways to hurt your score.
