12 Ways to Save
Posted on January 04 2010
Saving money is so important today. I cannot stress enough the importance of establishing a savings account to help out with the unexpected expenses and/or emergencies that tend to pop up at the most inopportune time. Having money saved away will allow you to take care of these situations without having to borrow or use more credit. Start saving today if you haven’t already! Here are a few ideas to help you get started:
- Start up a change jar and add to it every day
- Go over your budget each and every month
- Have a certain amount of your paycheck go directly into a savings account.
- Take a certain amount each month and place it into a piggy bank.
- Cut out or cut back on flexible expenditures like coffee, eating out, or cigarettes
- Eliminate either you’re home phone or cell phone
- Disconnect any electrical devices that are not in use. Toaster, lamps, etc.
- Create a grocery list before heading out to eliminate impulse buying, and never go grocery shopping when you’re hungry!
- Gym memberships! Are you using yours or just paying for it each month?
- Compare insurance rates to find the best deal
- Ask yourself before each and every purchase if it’s a want or a need.
- Pack a lunch and avoid eating out. This can be a HUGE expense for most Americans.
